A Man’s Guide to Buying Lingerie this Christmas

Tips for the trickiest Christmas gift

To the average man, shopping for lingerie can be a daunting task at the best of times. Getting it wrong could be disastrous for a relationship, however, with a little planning and thought there are ways to ensure that the lady in your life receives the best Christmas present this year.

Size

First things first, do your homework carpet cleaners helston and make sure you get the correct size...the most important part of the planning process. Don’t just take a wild guess. Raid her lingerie draw, find the bra that she loves to wear and jot down the size. The temptation to pick up the nearest thing that looks vaguely her size is the easy way out but the results can be uncomfortable at the best and offensive at the worst.

If you are worried about getting her bra size right then try considering nightwear as an option. There are some fabulous silk and vintage pyjama sets around but for something a little sexier try a chemise – a short night gown made out of light material.

Colour

Raid her wardrobe and take a look at what colours are most prominent. Is there a colour that she wears more frequently than others and does she have a favourite colour? Remember red can be sexy, but there is so much more choice in lingerie today so find a colour which she will love and she will appreciate it more for the extra thought.

Accessorise

Go that extra mile with attention to detail and accessorise her lingerie for the ultimate Christmas present. Try picking out some matching jewellery, a handbag or stockings to go with the lingerie that you have chosen.

Buying a set is a must – women love to receive a set of lingerie, especially if it’s a present. A set doesn’t necessarily mean bra and pants, but it could also consist of a corset or basque and pants.

Buying Online

For a man, stepping into a lingerie shop can be a terrifying and embarrassing experience. In recent years some high street stores have ‘expert’ advisors on hand in the run up to Christmas; however, the power of the internet has helped to save the blushes of many men.

There is now an extensive selection of lingerie available online where you can have gifts delivered to your door without having to face the stores. Most sites also offer guidance and advice via email and telephone and some even have bra fitting guides.

Finally, remember that you are buying lingerie for her. Make sure you choose something that she will like and feel comfortable in, rather that choosing something which will make your day.

Here Comes The Summer

Editorial written for By the D'Art magazine

In opening an independent lingerie and swimwear boutique in December 2007, Jane Williams of Juste Moi was keen to fill the gap in supplying designer luxury brands in the South Hams area, and now has a fantastic following of customers. Our customer base is very diverse with women of all ages coming into the shop from students looking for up to the minute fashion through to ladies looking for something more substantial. Customers have been kind enough to say that we are the most stylish swimwear and lingerie boutique in the West Country, with a range that matches the best London shops.

At Juste Moi in Foss street, we are well prepared for the summer season now, and lets hope it’s a good one this year, with most of our swimwear and lingerie collections now in stock

This years swimwear collections take inspiration from all over the world with figure flattering cuts and styles in a kaleidoscope of colours. Women are much more aware now of what to look for in swimwear. Ladies want superb fit, quality, durability, a wide range of cup sizes and up to the minute fashion colours and prints. We don’t want sagging and bagging bottoms, and no support up front! Let’s face it, more of our bodies are on show so we want to look as good as we can. We are not all Kate Moss.

Juste Moi concentrate on stocking reliable, renowned swimwear houses from all over the globe, that offer all of the above. Gottex, Maryan Mehlhorn, Roidal, Pain de Sucre and Miraclsuit have a wealth of experience and dedication in all these areas of quality and fit.

Miraclesuit control swimwear, for instance, has three times the amount of spandex in the fibre for a great fit with cleverly cut on the bias styles. Gottex and Maryan Mehlhorn have equally cleverly designed control panels within their swimsuits. Roidal’s 2009 collection has gone for strong colours, draped fabrics and daring cuts. Again the high quality of the fabric and the use of micro fibre ensure total comfort and faster drying time.

Lingerie collections for 2009 have been inspired by romance, travel and old school elegance and feature luxury levers lace, mother of pearl and swarovski crystals, pleated satin ribbons and lace, along with animal skin prints and tropical foliage. Something for every lady. Again good fit and support is of the essence, and what Juste Moi aim to achieve with their customers. We concentrate on luxury niche labels such as Aubade, Lise Charmel, Marie Jo, Prima Donna, and Elle Macpherson, for women of all ages looking for something special as well as the bridal sector.

In December 0f 2008 we decided to open an internet shop so that all of our customers and prospective customers can now browse online, as we aim to show all of our products in the boutique on our online shop, to make shopping even easier for those not living close to Dartmouth. You can now browse the collections in the comfort of your own home and order direct online or simply phone through.

We have also expanded this season and branched into mens swimwear. We now stock Vilebrequin father and sons designer swimming trunks from South of France – the only stockist in the west country of this iconic swimwear. So ladies, if your conscience gets the better of you after splashing out on your new swimwear, then treat your other half!

We wish all of our customers, a brilliant summer this year and hope to see you sometime over the season.

With best regards,
Jane Williams
